Women's Fund of Rhode Island, in collaboration with Vision 2020 and organizations throughout RI, is pleased to highlight events meant to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, giving white women the right to vote nationwide. In RI, women received the right to vote on January 6, 1920, so we were a bit ahead of the game! While this is certainly a milestone to be celebrated, we also note that it took much longer for our sisters of color to receive that same right. We hope you'll join us in one of the many events happening around Rhode Island and nationwide and use it as a time to reflect on the importance of civic engagement and our continued fight for equity.
