At Women’s Fund of Rhode Island (WFRI), we believe that the only way to achieve gender and racial equality is by creating and upholding equitable opportunities for our marginalized communities. We at WFRI unequivocally oppose the Supreme Court’s strikedown of Affirmative Action in the college admissions process.
Race-conscious policies, such as Affirmative Action, made the college admissions process equitable for BIPOC students across the country. As Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson writes in her dissent, “Deeming race irrelevant in law does not make it so in life.”
